The tournament format consists of eight teams in two pools of four. In pool play, it is a double-elimination within pool play. The two pool winners will then meet in a winner-take-all championship game to determine the 2017 Appalachian Athletic Conference Tournament champion.

​Seeds No. 1, 4, 5 and 8 will be in Pool A, while Seeds No. 2, 3, 6 and 7 will be in Pool B.

Tennessee Wesleyan and Point are regular-season co-champions, but the No. 1 seed belongs to Tennessee Wesleyan since it swept the three-game series against Point. Here are the seeds for the tournament:
