BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Union College senior guard Carley Blankenship recently became the third player in program history to amass 1,000 points and 400 assists in a career.

Blankenship (Lexington, Ky.) dished out five assists in Saturday's 82-77 Appalachian Athletic Conference loss at UVa-Wise, making her the fourth player in Lady Bulldog history to collect 400 assists in a career. She ranks third all-time with 404 and trails only Andrea Hillard (654) and Allison Fowler (421). Tara Bailey-Middleton is the other member of the 400-assist club with 403.

The 5-foot-6 Blankenship also joins Hillard and Fowler as the only players in program history to accumulate 1,000 points and 400 assists in a career. Fowler ranks third on Union's all-time scoring list with 1,427 points, Hillard is seventh at 1,308 points, and Blankenship currently sits 11th with 1,106 points.

Averaging 11.6 points per game this season, Blankenship should crack the top 10 on the scoring list by season's end.

Blankenship has tallied 244 points in 21 games this year with 88 assists, 80 rebounds and 32 steals to her credit.

Union will travel to Bryan (Tenn.) College Wednesday for a conference showdown. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m.
