
BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Union College Director of Athletics Darin S. Wilson recently announced the hiring of Joe Nagle as the new Assistant Sports Information Director.
"We are excited about having Joe join our staff, and I am confident he will only help to enhance everything that is being done by our sports information office," said Wilson. "We are fortunate to have one of the best sports information offices around, and I believe it will only get better with Joe now a member of our team."
Nagle, who hails from Mishawaka, Ind., joins Union Sports Information Director Jay Stancil's staff, which has earned 44 NAIA-SIDA Publication Awards since 2004.
"I feel delighted to have Joe on our staff," said Stancil. "In the short time, I have known him it has been easy to see that he has a passion for sports information and a strong sense of professionalism. I look forward to seeing what the future holds for our office with Joe now a part of it."
A 2008 graduate of Ball State (Ind.) University, Nagle has worked in the University of Notre Dame (Ind.) Sports Information Office since May of 2008. While a member of the Fighting Irish staff, he provided game day media relations assistance for football, men's and women's soccer, men's and women's basketball and baseball. In addition, he provided editorial assistance on numerous media guides and game day programs as well as performing a variety of other job functions.
"I'm very honored to become a part of the Union College Athletics Department and more importantly the Union College family," said Nagle. "I would like to thank Director of Athletics Darin Wilson and Sports Information Director Jay Stancil for giving me the opportunity to continue my career with the Bulldogs. I look forward to working with the faculty, staff, coaches and players to continue the high level of excellence and success that makes Union College special."
Nagle has also worked a number of NCAA postseason tournaments, serving on the media coordination staff for the 2009 Women's Tennis NCAA Tournament First and Second Rounds, the 2009 Women's Basketball NCAA Tournament First and Second Rounds and the 2009 Men's Post Season NIT First, Second and Third Rounds. Moreover, he was a director's assistant for the 2009 BIG EAST Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Championships.
At Union, Nagle will help promote and publicize the 23 Bulldog and Lady Bulldog intercollegiate athletic programs. He will serve as the primary contact person for men's and women's soccer, cycling, men's and women's cross country, men's basketball, men's and women's swimming, men's and women's indoor and outdoor track & field, men's and women's golf and softball.
Located in Barbourville, Ky., Union is a member of the Appalachian Athletic Conference and Mid-South Conference (football only) and competes nationally in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).
