Bluefield, VA-- The Bluefield
College women's basketball team off of a loss with King College 72-70;
received an at-large bid to play in the National Christian College
Athletic Association (NCCAA) National Tournament, March 11-13. The Lady Rams are ranked 3rd,
behind first place Mt. Vernon Nazarene University, second place
Emmanuel College. The Lady Rams are followed by Bethel College (4th), King College (5th), North Greenville University (6th), Ecclesia College (7th), and Grace College (8th).
The Lady Rams
will play on Thursday March 11, at 3:00 p.m. versus North Greenville
College. Depending on the outcome of that game they will play Friday,
March 12 the winner or loser of the Emmanuel College/Ecclesia Game.
"Our players
have worked extremely hard in the off- season to build a program here
at Bluefield. Our team understands the sacrifices it takes to be a
winner and what it takes to turn a program around," said head coach
Steve Hardin.
The Lady Rams
(21-9) have had a monumental season reaching 21 wins which sets a
school record for women's basketball as the most wins in a
season.Also, head coach Steve Hardin was awarded as Coach of the Year.
Along with Kia Gilliard being names on the All- Defensive Player Team
and All- Conference 2nd Team.
"I love this
basketball team! They do everything I ask of them and then some. I am
so proud of our team for reaching one of our goals we set out this year
in winning at least 20 games and putting this teams name in Bluefield
history books, the most wins in a season and being ranked in NAIA and
NCCAA almost all year for the first time in school history," said Coach
Hardin.
The team hopes
to add on to the success brought back to the college by the men's
baseball team who won the NCCAA National Championship last season.
