
SIOUX CITY, Iowa - Union senior Brooke Smith caps her career with a pair of All-American honors, landing on the NAIA Division II All-American Third Team and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's (WBCA) 2010 NAIA State Farm Coaches' All-America Team as an honorable mention, both the NAIA and WBCA announced Tuesday.
This is the third year in a row Smith (Pineville, Ky.) made the NAIA All-American Third Team and the second time she made the WBCA State Farm All-America Team, first making the squad in 2007-08.
Smith is a three-time Appalachian Athletic Conference Player of the Year, three-time All-AAC First Team member, a three-time AAC All-Academic Team selection and a 2010 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete. She also made the the 2010 ESPN the Magazine CoSIDA Women's Basketball Academic All-District IV College Division Third Team earlier this season.
The forward/center finished the season averaging 23.3 points and 8.16 rebounds per game. She also blocked a school-record 73 shots. Smith ranks third in NAIA Division II in points per game and total points (747) and fifth in total blocks.
Smith ended her career as the all-time leading scorer in Union history - men's or women's, with 2,772 career points and ranks second in Lady Bulldog history with 979 rebounds. In addition, she owns three of the top four scoring seasons in program history and is the only Lady Bulldog to net 500 points all four seasons. Smith owns eight school records.
On Feb. 10, Union retired her jersey No. 3 in recognition of all her accomplishments.

The Lady Bulldogs won a share of the Appalachian Athletic Conference regular-season championship and finished with a 22-10 overall record and 11-5 conference mark.
