Institutional Champion of Character Award - Milligan College
This year Milligan College has implemented the five core values of the Champions of Character initiative throughout their campus by training, education of student-athletes, the student body, and by encouraging their coaches to prioritize the values on and off the field of play. This has had a positive impact upon not only the students, athletic staff and faculty but also upon fans that attend Milligan games.
Milligan student-athletes and coaches have visited area schools and helped in the classroom, volunteered at the local hospital, served meals at a homeless shelter, tutored at Coalition for Kids, and cleaned, painted and repaired various voluntary service facilities in Carter and Washington Counties while maintaining a higher grade point average than the rest of the student body. They have ministered to families of prisoners with Operation Angel Tree, and raised fund for breast cancer awareness with Dig for a Cure.
Their efforts have resulted in a student body that understands that good character is more important than winning contests and that serving others is a privilege.
