
ASHEVILLE, NC - The Appalachian Athletic Conference Women's Game of the Week features a showdown between nationally-ranked teams as Tennessee Wesleyan hosts Union (Ky.) Saturday. Saturday's contest is scheduled for a 5:30 pm start and will be broadcast on www.ucbulldogs.com.
Both teams are ranked in the latest NAIA Division II Women's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 Poll -- Tennessee Wesleyan (No. 20) and Union (No. 24).
Tennessee Wesleyan (14-6, 7-2 AAC) enters Saturday's game having won its last six games, including a 59-32 win over Tennessee Temple last Saturday. Heather Gibson recorded a double-double in the win with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Cody Houck added 10 points. Wesleyan is a perfect 8-0 at home this season.
Union (12-7, 6-3 AAC) are winners of their last three games, including an 83-70 home win over Bryan last Saturday. Senior guard Kara Pile had a big night as she scored a career-high 38 points to lead Union. Lindsey Waters, the conference's leading scorer, recorded her 14th double-double of the season with 24 points and 15 rebounds. Waters also had three blocks and three steals in the win.
Union defeated Tennessee Wesleyan on December 3, 63-55, at home.
