Senior outfielder Tim Galbraith tied a school record for most hits in a game as he rapped out five hits in Union College's 17-6 win over visiting University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) on Thursday in non-conference baseball action.
The Hamilton, Ohio native went a perfect 5 for 5 with two doubles, four runs scored, a RBI and a stolen base. The only thing that prevented Galbraith from having a chance at breaking the record was the fact that the game ended in the seventh due to the 10-run mercy rule.
Four others in program history have had five hits in the game with the feat accomplished twice during the 2004 season.
Galbraith, who has started and batted leadoff in all six of Union's games, leads the team with a .579 average (11 hits in 19 at-bats) and has five runs scored, two doubles, one RBI and three stolen bases.
Union (4-2 overall) will play host to Alice Lloyd (Ky.) College on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. for a nine-inning contest.
