
Asheville, N.C. – Fitzroy Harris of Milligan (Tenn.)and Andrew Johnston of Union (Ky.) have been named the Appalachian Athletic Conference Track Athlete and Field Athlete of the Week, respectively. The awards were announced by the AAC office on Monday afternoon.
Harris captured the outstanding track athlete of the week honors for his victory in 400-meter run as the Sea Ray Relays at the University of Tennessee. The sophomore, who qualified for the 2012 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships as well as set the new school record in the 400-meter earlier in the season, won the event with a time of 48.37.

Johnston captured his second consecutive field athlete of the week with his performance at the Cumberlands Invitational. The junior finished third in the pole vault with a mark of 12-06.00, and then also recorded a 16th place finish in the javelin throw with a mark of 110-01.

Both Harris and Johnston will return to action with their respective teams on Thursday, April 19, for the 2012 AAC Track and Field Championships. The event will be hosted by Milligan at Science Hill High School's Kermit Tipton Stadium in Johnson City, Tenn. The action is slated for a 3 p.m. start.
