
ASHEVILLE, N.C. - For the second straight week, the Milligan College track and field program has swept the Appalachian Athletic Conference weekly awards. The honors were announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
The Buffaloes saw Fitzroy Harris (Mandeville, Jamaica) named the men's most outstanding track athlete of the week, Brandon Sissell (Simpsonville, S.C.) was named the men's most outstanding field athlete of the week, Christine McMahon (Lanoka Harbor, N.J.) was named the women's most outstanding track athlete of the week and Janie Smith (Kingsport, Tenn.) was named the women's most outstanding field athlete of the week.
Harris earned his third honor of the season for his performance at the Highlander Invitational hosted by Radford University. The sophomore finished the 100-meter dash in fourth with a time of 10.98, and then grabbed an eighth place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.96.
Sissell had a solid weekend as he recorded a second place in the javelin with a mark of 45.92-meters. The mark was a new personal best for the sophomore. Sissell also finished second in the triple jump with a mark of 12.26-meters.
McMahon lowered her season best in the women's 1,500-meter run as she recorded an 11th place finish with a time of 4:57.08. The freshman also had a ninth place finish with a time of 5:02.42 in a deep NCAA field.
Smith grabbed a seventh place finish in the javelin with a mark of 23.83-meters.
