Bramlage ends career with a big double-double
Posted by Jay Stancil - Mon, Feb 27, 2006 - [Men's Basketball] - Viewed 746 times
Union (Ky.) College senior Joe Bramlage became just the third player in Bulldog history to score 1,000 or more points and amass over 1,000 rebounds in a career when he had four points and eight rebounds in Appalachian Athletic Conference Tournament championship game on Saturday.

The 6-foot-5 forward surpassed the 1,000-point mark last season as junior. However, Bramlage entered the 2005-06 season with 779 career rebounds, needing just 221 more to reach the rare double-double. But in Saturday's 78-67 loss to Montreat (N.C.) College, he finally reached that plateau, grabbing eight boards to give him 223 on the year and 1,002 for his career.

Bramlage joins Paul Andrews and Ken Meibers as the only players in program history to amass over 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds in a career.

The Lakeside Park, Ky. native is tied for 12th all-time in scoring with 1,427 points and is fourth all-time in rebounding with 1,002 boards.

In addition, Bramlage became the first player in school history to tally 1,000 points, 1,000 rebounds and over 300 assists as he ended his career with 334. Despite the fact he was a forward, Bramlage led the Bulldogs in assists the last two seasons and almost led the team during the 2003-04 campaign when he missed nine games due to an injury. In 2003-04, he dished out 78 assists, while Jon Dean led the team with 79.

Union finished the 2005-06 season 22-11 overall and 14-6 in the Appalachian Athletic Conference.
