ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Anthony Simpson of Bryan is the Appalachian Athletic Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week, the league announced Monday.

The junior from Nashville, Tenn., competed in his first race since being injured earlier in the season and posted a fifth-place finish in a field of 135 runners at the Vanderbilt's Commodore Classic. Simpson completed the 8K race in 26:02.

The Lions placed second in the team competition.
