ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Caroline Mellard of Montreat and Teagan Wood of Milligan are the Appalachian Athletic Conference Defensive and Offensive Women's Soccer of the Week, the league announced Monday.

For Mellard, this is the third time this season she received this award, while this is fhe first award for Wood.

Mellard, a senior goalkeeper from Lawrenceburg, Ga., posted two shutouts last week as Montreat went 1-0-1 on the week. The Lady Cavaliers posted a 1-0 decision over NCAA Division II Mars Hill (N.C.) before recording a 0-0, double-overtime tie against Georgia Gwinnett. Mellard had 14 saves on the week.

On the year, Mellard has recorded 55 saves. Montreat is 9-1-2 overall and 5-0-1 in the AAC.

Wood helped Milligan to a 1-0 record last week as she helped the Buffaloes to a win over Tennessee Wesleyan last week. Wood scored the game's lone goal in the 107th mintue of play as Milligan collected the double-overtime, conference win.

On the year, the sophomore forward from Kingsport, Tenn., leads Milligan in goals with four. Milligan is 7-4-1 overall and 4-1-1 in conference play.
