ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Andy Roof of Montreat and Mackenzie Patten of Milligan are the Appalachian Athletic Conference Men's and Women's Cross Country Runners of the Week, the league announced Monday.

This is the first award for either Roof or Patten this season.

Roof, a sophomore from Irmo, S.C., posted a personal best over the weekend when he placed 52nd out of 182 runners at the Royal Cross Country Challenge. Roof completed the 8K race in 26:27.

Patten, a sophomore from Kingsport, Tenn., led the Buffaloes to a ninth-place team finish at the Blue Ridge Open, which was the highest non-NCAA D-I. Patten ran a time of 19:49 to place in 60th overall.
