ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Carolyn Evans of Bryan is the Appalachian Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.
This is the first time this season Evans has received this award.
Evans and the Lady Lions went 1-1 last week. Bryan is 22-9 overall and 11-2 in conference play.
The junior from Arlington, Texas, had a total of 33 kills in the Lady Lions' two matches on the week. On Thursday, she led the Lady Lions to a win with a career-best 22 kills while hitting .447 for the match. Then on Friday, she had a match-high 11 kills. For the week, Evans posted a .333 hitting percentage to go along with eight digs, five total blocks and one service ace.
On the year, Evans has 244 kills and owns a .195 hitting percentage. She also has 129 digs and 24 aces and ranks 39th in the NAIA in total blocks (101).
