KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Although not ranked in the latest NAIA Men's Soccer Coaches' Poll, Bryan is No. 22 in the 2012 NAIA Men's Soccer Modified Ratings Percentage Index (MRPI), announced by the national office Wednesday.
The Lions (10-3-1 overall, 6-1-1 Appalachian Athletic Conference) has a MRPI of 0.609503 to place them in the top 25. The next highest team from the AAC is Tennessee Wesleyan (10-3-3 overall, 6-1-1 AAC), which has a MRPI of 0.538122. Milligan (9-4 overall, 6-1 AAC) is ranked No. 23 in the latest NAIA Coaches' Poll but is 66th in the MRPI at 0.444441.
Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) garners its first-ever No. 1 ranking in the 2012 NAIA Men's Soccer Modified Ratings Percentage Index (MRPI), announced by the national office Wednesday. In the second official MRPI of 2012, the Blue Raiders stand 14-1-0 on the season.
Since 2010, Lindsey Wilson becomes the sixth different team to hold the top MRPI spot, joining Auburn Montgomery (Ala.) (1), Hastings (Neb.) (2), Mobile (Ala.) (1), Rio Grande (Ohio) (2) and former NAIA member Simon Fraser (B.C.) (2).
Auburn Montgomery, the No. 1 team in the first official MRPI on Sept. 26, claims the No. 2 spot this week. No. 3 Concordia (Calif.), No. 4 Rio Grande and No. 5 Science & Arts (Okla.) round out the top five.
No. 20 Robert Morris (Ill.), a member of the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference, is the highest mentioned team in the MRPI that is not ranked in the current Coaches' Top 25 Poll.
The MRPI consists of the team's modified winning percentage, their opponents' winning percentage and the cumulative ranking points from the NAIA Men's Soccer Coaches' Top 25 Poll. Each of the three values has a weighted percentage calculated in the MRPI. The MRPI modifies the value of home/away/neutral results and adds more value for games against opponents ranked in their respective national poll.
The MRPI - first adopted in 2010 - will select the at-large qualifying teams and seed the 32-team national championship field. For a complete NAIA Men's Soccer Modified Ratings Percentage Index calendar, click here. The final MRPI will be announced on Nov. 11.
