ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Milligan captured the 2012 Appalachian Athletic Conference men's soccer regular-season championship and will enter the 2012 AAC Tournament as the No. 1 seed thanks to finishing with a 7-1 league record.

This is the second year in a row the Buffaloes won the men's soccer regular-season title.

Milligan will open tournament play Saturday when it plays host to the winner of the opening round game between No. 9 Point and No. 8 Montreat, which will be played Wednesday at 4 p.m. in Montreat, N.C.

Here are the tournament seeds:

  • No. 1 - Milligan (10-5 overall, 7-1 AAC)
  • No. 2 - Bryan (11-3-2 overall, 6-1-1 AAC)
  • No. 3 - Tennessee Wesleyan (11-3-3 overall, 6-1-1 AAC)
  • No. 4 - Virginia Intermont (6-5-3 overall, 3-2-3 AAC)
  • No. 5 - Reinhardt (5-9-2 overall, 4-4 AAC)
  • No. 6 - Union (6-8-2 overall, 2-5-1 AAC)
  • No. 7 - St. Andrews (7-8-1, overall, 2-5-1 AAC)
  • No. 8 - Montreat (3-10-1 overall, 2-5-1 AAC)
  • No. 9 - Point (4-14 overall, 0-8 AAC)

The tournament format is a nine-team, single-elimination format, and the schedule is as follows:

Opening Round - Wednesday, Oct. 31 - at Higher Seed's Site
No. 9 Point at No. 8 Montreat, 4 p.m.

Quarterfinal Round - Saturday, Nov. 3 - at Higher Seed's Site
Point/Montreat winner at No. 1 Milligan, Time TBD
No. 5 Reinhardt at No. 4 Virginia Intermont, Time TBD
No. 6 Union at No. 3 Tennessee Wesleyan, Time TBD
No. 7 St. Andrews at No. 2 Bryan, Time TBD
