ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Jorge Gonzalez of Bryan and Chris Ochieng of Milligan are the Appalachian Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Defensive and Offensive Players of the Week, the league announced Monday.
This is the first weekly award for both Gonzalez and Ochieng.
Gonzalez helped Bryan to a 1-0-1 week as the Lions went into double overtime in both games. Bryan defeated NCAA Division II Carson-Newman (Tenn.) 2-1, and then tied the No. 1 team in the NAIA, Rio Grande (Ohio), 2-2. Gonzalez scored the game-tying goal in the final minute of regulation to send it into overtime.
On the year, Gonzalez has two goals and two assists for six total points.
Bryan is 11-3-2 overall and 6-1-1 in the AAC.

Ochieng recorded 5 points for the Buffaloes, including two goals on the week. The senior scored Milligan's lone goal on Saturday against Reinhardt to help the Buffaloes clinch the AAC regular-season title for the second year in a row. Ochieng recorded 17 shots in the two games.
For the year, Ochieng leads the conference in goals (14) and points (30).
Milligan is 10-5 overall and 7-1 in the AAC.
