
ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Montreat finished the regular season with a 7-1-1 conference record to win the 2012 Appalachian Athletic Conference women's soccer regular-season championship and earn the No. 1 seed in the upcoming league tournament, the conference announced Monday.
The Lady Cavaliers are the fifth different team to win the regular-season championship over the past five years. Former AAC member King won it 2008 with Union winning it in 2009. In 2010, Union, Tennessee Wesleyan and Milligan all shared the title, and Reinhardt claimed the regular-season crown in 2011.

Milligan earned the No. 3 seed over Union since it won the regular-season match over the Lady Bulldogs. Point, Bryan and St. Andrews all finished with 2-6-1 league records, but Point is the No. 7 seed since it has a goal differential of minus-9. Bryan is the No. 8 seed since it has a goal differential of minus-14, and St. Andrews is the No. 9 seed since it lost to both Point and Bryan during the regular season.
The tournament format is a nine-team, single-elimination format, and the schedule is as follows:
