Posted by Jay Stancil - Thu, Mar 30, 2006 - [Baseball] - Viewed 596 times
Senior third baseman Justin Barrier tied the school record for hits in a game as fifteenth-ranked Union College swept host Georgetown (Ky.) College 2-1 and 12-8 on Wednesday in non-conference baseball action.

The Versailles, Ky. native went a perfect 5-for-5 in the second game, tying the program record for hits in a game.

Barrier is the seventh player to achieve this mark and the third to do so this season. Tim Galbraith (Hamilton, Ohio) and Erin Satterlee (Youngstown, Ohio) also rapped out five hits in a game this year.

On the year, Barrier is batting .411 (44 hits in 107 at bats) and has four home runs, 45 RBIs, four doubles, three triples and 34 runs scored.

Union is 31-5 overall on the year and 7-1 in the Appalachian Athletic Conference. The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday when they play host to Virginia Intermont College in league play. The doubleheader is set for 12 p.m.
