Junior Lyla Blauser swiped four bases in the first game of Union College's doubleheader sweep of host Bluefield (Va.) College on Wednesday to become the program's all-time steals leader.
Union swept the Appalachian Athletic Conference softball twinbill, winning 6-1 and 6-3.
In the opener, Blauser went 3 for 4 with four stolen bases to give her 46 in her career, surpassing the previous record of 43 career steal set by Mandy Phifer. In the second game, she went 2 for 3 with another stolen base to push the total to 47.
Blauser set the single-season record with 27 steals during her freshman season in 2004. After not playing in 2005 due to a knee injury, the Hopkinsville, Ky. native has returned to form and has swiped 20 bases in 21 tries this season to give her 46 in her career.
In addition to the stolen bases, Blauser also had two RBIs and two runs scored on the day.
