(JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - May 5) - Union College ended its 12-year conference championship drought on Friday as it posted a 14-1 victory over top-seeded Tennessee Wesleyan College.

It had been since 1994 when they were in the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference that the Bulldogs had won a conference title.

"It was an unbelievable week. From the pitchers to the hitters to the guys in the field, it was an absolute unbelievable week," Union coach Bart Osborne said.

Barrier, the Appalachian Athletic Conference Player of the Year, opened the scoring in the first with a sac fly that allowed Tim Galbraith (Hamilton, Ohio) to come home.

In the third, Union posted a five-spot to break open a 6-0 cushion. Barrier belted a two-run home run to make it 3-0. After a Josh Ehringer (Somerset, Ky.) run-scoring single, Kenny Kysar (Corbin, Ky.) lined a two-run triple for a six-run advantage.

Erin Satterlee (Youngstown, Ohio) tacked on a sac fly RBI in the fourth, padding the Bulldogs' lead to make it 7-0.

Union put up another five-spot in sixth. Satterlee had a run-scoring hit, while Barrier lined a two-run double. Rene Quintana (Anasco, Puerto Rico) and Gabe Curtis (Loudon, Tenn.) each knocked in a run as the lead swelled to 12-0.

In the seventh, Kysar scored when Satterlee hit into a double play, making it 13-0.

Tennessee Wesleyan (31-15 overall) finally cracked the scoring column when Michael Jenkins hit a solo home run.

The Bulldog offense continued to roll in the eighth as Kysar lined a run-scoring double to right to make it 14-1.
