(BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - May 10) - Union College's Tim Galbraith has been selected as the NAIA Baseball Player of the Week, the NAIA announced on Wednesday.
Galbraith helped the Bulldogs capture their first conference championship in 12 years as the team went 4-0 last week.
Union is currently 47-12 overall.
This marks the first time in program history that a Bulldog has been named the NAIA Player of the Week. Union has had a player earn NAIA Pitcher of the Week honors with Adam Carrico garnering the honor twice in 2005.
Galbraith, a senior outfielder from Hamilton, Ohio, batted .588 (10 hits in 17 at bats) with one double, one triple, seven RBIs and seven runs scored. His best game of the week came against Milligan (Tenn.) College as he went 3 of 4 with one double, three runs scored and four RBIs as Union won 13-3.
On the year, Galbraith is hitting .384 with 11 doubles, 35 RBIs and 65 runs scored. He also has stolen 27 bases.
Union is the top-seeded team for this week's NAIA Region XII Tournament and won its opening round game over No. 6 seed Brevard (N.C.) College by a count of 12-6 on Wednesday. The Bulldogs will face Montreat (N.C.) College on Thursday at 3 p.m.
