Fresno, Calif. (May 27, 2006) --- Seniors Megan Lease (Camden, N.C.) and Brandon Talbert (Mt. Carmel, Tenn.) completed their collegiate running careers in style as they finished 12th and 21st respectively at the NAIA marathon championships in Fresno, Calif. Saturday morning.
Lease, a five-time All-American during her career at Milligan, crossed the finish line in 3:11.55 and used a strong last three miles to move from 15th to 12th place in the race.
Talbert entered the event seeded 42nd in a field of 46, but used a tactical race plan to finish well inside the top 25 in 21st overall.
Both Lease and Talbert are the first Milligan athletes to contest the marathon outdoors thus earning school records in the process.
"I have a great deal of respect for both Brandon and Megan, they did a tremendous job in preparing for this race. They kept their composure early and that was key." said head coach Chris Layne.
