Another first for Bowling: UC setter earns NAIA honors

BARBOURVILLE, Ky . - September 14 - Senior Amanda Bowling continues to blaze new trails as the Union College setter was named the NAIA Setter of the Week, the organization announced Thursday.
  
This marks the first time that a Lady Bulldog has ever received national honors of any kind in program history.
  
Bowling (Louisville, Ky.) became the first player in Union program history to amass over 4,000 career assists as she accumulated 145 last week to give her 4,028 for her career. No other Lady Bulldog has more than 1,500 to their credit. In addition to the 145 assists, Bowling had 31 kills, 49 digs, seven aces and three blocks on the week.
 
Against Bluefield (Va.) College on Saturday, Bowling posted a triple-double with 10 kills, 43 assists and 10 digs in 3-0 sweep.
 
Currently, Bowling leads the Appalachian Athletic Conference with 13.3 assists per match. On the year, she has 451 assists, 85 kills, 123 digs, 18 total blocks and 16 aces.
 
Union (6-5 overall, 3-1 AAC) returns home on Thursday to take on Virginia Intermont College in another conference match at 6:30 p.m.
