MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (September 21, 2006) --- The Milligan College women’s cross country team remained in the No. 10 spot in the latest NAIA National Rankings released this week.

The Lady Buffs are coming off a third place finish at the Western Carolina Open last Friday. Milligan finished behind NCAA Division I members the University of Georgia and Appalachian State University. Milligan was able to run past Gardner-Webb (N.C.) University, the University of North Carolina-Asheville and host Western Carolina University.

“Being able to run against many of the regions Division I programs early in the season is preparing us for the quality of competition we’ll see when our national championships roll around in November,” said Milligan head coach Chris Layne.

The top-two spots in the poll stayed the same, with Simon Fraser (B.C.) University at No. 1, followed by Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) University in second. Malone (Ohio) College and Concordia (Calif.) University each moved up a spot to third and fourth respectively while the University of British Columbia fell from third down to fifth.

Milligan will return to action at the Disney Cross Country Classic on October 7, in Orlando, Fla.
