MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (September 28, 2006) --- The Milligan College women’s cross country team is still ranked tenth in the latest NAIA National Rankings released this week.

The Lady Buffs’ squad was off this past weekend. The last time Milligan raced was at the Western Carolina Open, on September 15. Milligan ran to a third place finish, behind NCAA Division I members the University of Georgia and Appalachian State University. The Lady Buffs were able to run past Gardner-Webb (N.C.) University, the University of North Carolina-Asheville and host Western Carolina University at the event.

"The top ten ranking continues to motivate our women,” said Milligan head coach Chris Layne. “We're confident we belong in the top half of the country and I know they're looking forward to being able to race again in October after a three week period of training."

Simon Fraser (B.C.) University, Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) University and Malone (Ohio) College stayed ranked one through three respectively. Black Hills State (S.D.) University improved from sixth up to fourth while the University of British Columbia rounded out the top-five.

Milligan will race again at the Disney Cross Country Classic on October 7, in Orlando, Fla.
