MIDWAY, Ky. - November 8 - Union College senior Andrea Hillard became the ninth player in program history to score 1,000 points in a career when she netted 16 in Wednesday's 102-79 win at Midway (Ky.) College.
The Annville, Ky. native entered the season with 967 career points, and in three games, Hillard has scored 37 to give her 1,004 for her career. She also had a team-high six assists.
The rest of the Lady Bulldogs continued scorching the competition as they surpassed the century mark for the third game in a row. Through the first three games, Union has scored 316 points for an average of 105.3 points per game.
After hitting 50 percent (17 of 34 shots) of its shots in the first half, Union led 46-33 at the half. The Lady Bulldogs cranked up the offense in the second half, nailing 24 of 39 shots (61.5 percent) in outscoring the Lady Eagles 56-46 en route to the 23-point victory.
Union finished the game hitting 56.2 percent from the field, while Midway (1-2 overall) made 38.6 percent.
Freshman Brooke Smith (Pineville, Ky.) posted a team-high 20 points, while sophomore Carrie Bistline (Frankfort, Ky.) came off the bench to hit seven of eight shots in recording 18 points to go with her team-high five rebounds. Allison Fowler (Morganfield, Ky.) chipped in 11 points.
Union (3-0 overall) returns home to play host to Indiana University-Southeast Saturday at 4 p.m.
