BEREA, KY (November 11, 2006)--- Milligan head coach Tony Wallingford won his 500th game as the Buffs won 80-60 at Berea (Ky.) College Saturday night.

“I am thrilled with the milestone, but when I retire I will look back on the record,” said a victorious Wallingford. “The 500 win plateau is for later on and as a team we will push forward.”

Milligan took a 33-30 lead into halftime and the Buffs went on a 10-0 run to pull away early in the second half.

The Buffs were led by sophomore Jeff Barnes (Franklin, Tenn.) with 19 points and 13 rebounds. Zach Dezarn (Franklin, Ohio) scored his 16 points with a 5-for-6 effort from the field and he was 5-for-6 at the free throw line for Milligan. Danny McKeehan (Morrow, Ohio) and Frankie Harris (Martinsville, Va.) each added ten points in the victory.

“It was a hard fought road win tonight,” said Wallingford. “I hope this win will give us confidence and inspire us to work better as we prepare for Crown.”

Milligan improves their record to 1-1 while Berea also owns a 1-1 record now.

The Buffs will return to the court Tuesday, November 14, for their home opener against Crown (Tenn.) College at the Steve Lacy Fieldhouse.
