MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (January 13, 2007)--- Milligan College senior Kacie Letterman (Gray, Tenn.) scored her 1000th point in a 58-55 victory over Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) rival UVA-Wise Lady Cavs on Saturday night at the Steve Lacy Fieldhouse. Letterman’s basket came 6:27 into the first half of action and it was a part of the 14-7 run to start the contest.

UVA-Wise, despite trailing by as many as 10 points, battled back to bring the score to 25-24 in favor of the Lady Buffs.

Milligan pushed the lead out to 12 points, 41-29, after Brittany Kilgore’s (Kingsport, Tenn.) free throw with 11:48 left in the contest.

Once again UVA-Wise made a contest out of it, and with under three minutes Terri Ann Hill made a basket to make the cut the Milligan lead down to one, 51-50. Hali Sparks (Erwin, Tenn.) answered with an assist from Letterman to put the Lady Buffs up by three. Milligan would drain five free throws down the stretch to hang on for the 58-55 conference victory.

Rikki Baughman (Elizabethton, Tenn.) scored 16 points to go with her 12 rebounds for her ninth double-double of the season. Letterman had 14 points in the match-up, followed by Leah Anderson (Lexington, Ky.) with 11 points.

Leading the charge for the Lady Cavs was Sarah Helton with 17 points and 15 rebounds, both game highs for the senior. Chelsea Lee and Hill added 11 and 10 points, respectively in the loss.

With the victory, Milligan’s record improves to 8-8, 4-4 AAC, while UVA-Wise drops to 3-16, 2-6 AAC. Milligan will travel to Montreat (N.C.) College on Tuesday to face the Lady Cavaliers for another AAC contest. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
