MOBILE, Ala. - SCAD Atlanta pulled off one of the only upset of the opening round at the NAIA Women's Tennis National Championship on Tuesday.

The event is being held at the Mobile Tennis Center in Mobile, Ala.

Ranked No. 19 coming into nationals, SCAD Atlanta posted a 7-2 win over 14th-ranked Arizona Christian.

The Bees owned a 2-1 lead following doubles play, winning both the No. 1 and No. 2 matches by the identical score of 8-3.

SCAD Atlanta continued its strong play in singles action as it won five of the six matches. In two of the singles wins, the Bees overcame losing a set to earn the victory. In No. 2 singles, Sofia Guerra overcame a first set loss to win 1-6, 6-3, 6-4. Antonella Altamirano also lost the first set of her match at No. 5 singles only to rally for the 4-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-6) win.

SCAD Atlanta will now face No. 3 SCAD Savannah (Ga.) in the quarterfinal round.
