GULF SHORES, Ala. - Milligan's Hannah Segrave defended her individual national championship in the 800 meter run as she won the event at the 2017 NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championship Meet.

The three-day event was held Thursday-Saturday at the Mickey Miller Blackwell Stadium in Gulf Shores, Ala.

Segrave entered Saturday's finals as the second seed, posting a time 1.08 seconds slower than Point Park's Anna Shields during the prelims. However, Segrave jumped out to the early lead in the finals and never looked back, winning with a time of 2:06.98 - nearly four secods faster than second-place Shields.

This is her fourth overall national championship in her career, having won two at indoor and two at outdoor national championship meets.

She is also the only women's NAIA All-American for the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC).

THere are four men's NAIA All-American's from the AAC. Milligan's Brandon Ellis earned the honor in the marathon for the third year in a row, while Gordon Dudley of Reinahrdt placed eighth in the javelin to collect All-American honors. Allen's Jordan Thompson picked up All-American honors with a third-place finish in the 400 meter hurdles. Tennessee Wesleyan collected two All-American awards with Bryce Choate placing eighth in the 800 and Chaz Hawkins was sixth in the 110 meter hurdles.
