WALESKA, Ga. – Media outlets have a new contact at Reinhardt University as Mike DeVader started his position as director of athletic communication and media this week.

lDeVader comes to Georgia from Indiana, where he served as the assistant athletic director of sports information and communications at Calumet College of St. Joseph. He previously served as the director of athletics communications and gameday director at the University of Antelope Valley in Lancaster, Calif. He also has completed internships with the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) national office in Kansas City, Mo., and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

"I felt like Mike's experiences with the NAIA as an intern and his last few years at small private institutions similar to Reinhardt would really let him step right in without skipping a beat and continue to move us forward," Reinhardt Director of Athletics Bill Popp said. "We have a strong social media presence, and with our partnership with Sidearm Sports, we believe Mike will continue to provide our fan base, friends and family with a great service."

"To be able to be a part of a championship-caliber university - not only on the field but also in the classroom - is very special to me," DeVader said. "I would like to thank President Kina Mallard and Director of Athletics Bill Popp for providing me with the opportunity to build on my skills I developed at Calumet and continue them within the already solid foundation of the Reinhardt Athletics Communications Department.

"I am thrilled to get to know all the faculty, staff, administration, coaches, student-athletes and media as I work my hardest day-in and day-out to make the Waleska community proud of Reinhardt sports information, not only on the Appalachian Athletic Conference level, but the national stage of the NAIA as well."

As director of athletic communication and media for Reinhardt, DeVader will be responsible for handling all media inquiries as they relate to Reinhardt University athletics in addition to accumulating and reporting all required conference and district statistics.

He also will contribute to the sports section of Reinhardt Magazine, create human interest stories related to athletics and athletes, oversee the Reinhardt Eagles website,, and he will manage and assign score keepers, clock keepers and public address announcers for home games.
