JOHNSON CITY, TN (March 8, 2007) --- The Milligan College women's distance medley relay team of Jacklyn Talbert (Mt. Carmel, Tenn.), Brittany Bales (Kingsport, Tenn.), Kortney Goulds (Johnson City, Tenn.) and MacKenzie LaBonte (Port Charlotte, Fla.) used a school record performance to advance to the final at the NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships held at ETSU's Memorial Center Thursday night.

The host squad ran 12:15.73 to better the previous mark by seven seconds and secure a spot in Saturday afternoons final at 3:30 p.m.

"The women stayed composed and did what was necessary to reach the final," said Milligan head coach Chris Layne.

Talbert, Bales, Goulds, and LaBonte will join junior Erika Fox (Gambrills, Md.), sophomore Ashley Pearce (St. Cloud, Fla.) and senior Josh Ferry (Bloomington, Ind.) in Friday’s preliminary rounds of the open events. Talbert will run in the mile semifinal heat at 2:05 p.m. while Ferry’s 600 meter preliminary round is at 3:35 p.m. Bales’ 800 meter preliminary round is set to begin at 4:10 p.m. followed by Goulds’ 1,000 meter race at 4:40 p.m. The trio of LaBonte, Pearce and Fox will try to reach the final of the 3,000 meters with preliminary races at 5:10 p.m.
