JOHNSON CITY, TN (March 9, 2007) --- The Milligan College women's track and field team advanced two more athletes to the finals of the NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championships after solid performances Friday afternoon. The finals are set to begin Saturday morning inside ETSU's Memorial Center.
In the women's 1,000 meter run, junior Kortney Goulds (Johnson City, Tenn.) also used a new lifetime best of 2:59.81 to earn a berth in Saturday's championship. The women’s 1,000 meter final is scheduled to start at 1:45 p.m. Junior MacKenzie LaBonte (Port Charlotte, Fla.) will line up in the women's 3,000 meter final by virtue of her time of 10:15.13, a new personal best, in her semifinal race. The final of the 3,000 meter will go off at 2:05 p.m. Saturday.
Junior Brittany Bales (Kingsport, Tenn.) failed to make the final of the women's 800 meters, but did record a new indoor best time of 2:21.54.
Also competing in Saturday's final will be sophomore Jacklyn Talbert (Mt. Carmel, Tenn.) in the mile at 12:25 p.m. and freshman Rebecca McDowell (Mechanicsville, Va.) at 2:45 p.m. in the 5,000 meters. Talbert, Bales, Goulds and LaBonte will also line up in the final of the women's distance medley relay set to begin at 3:30 p.m.
