NAIA Baseball Player of the Week
Tennessee Wesleyan center fielder Jered Stanley is the NAIA Baseball Player of the Week after batting .688 and slugging 1.563 with 10 RBIs, four home runs and 11 runs scored.
Stanley helped the Bulldogs to a 3-1 mark in four games last
week, opening with an RBI and a 1-for-4 outing in a one-run loss to
nationally ranked Trevecca Nazarene. Stanley followed the outing with a
4-for-4, four-run performance in a 15-10 win over NCAA Division II
Carson Newman, a game in which he also drove in two on RBI singles.
The Bulldogs then moved to a two-game set against Virginia-Wise, and
Stanley helped Tennessee Wesleyan to a 17-3 win in the opener, going a
perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with four runs scored. Three of his four
base hits left the ballpark, and the Bulldog outfielder drove in six in
the game. He also earned one free pass on a walk to move his on-base
percentage in the game to 1.000.
In game two, Stanley continued to up his power numbers, belting
his fourth homer of the day and finishing with three runs scored in a
2-for-3 performance that helped Tennessee Wesleyan ease past
Virginia-Wise in the second game of the double-header 12-5. He also
tripled in the game. Stanley finished the week with 11 hits in 16 at
bats, walking twice and coming up with five extra-base hits.
