Banner Elk, N.C. – The King College women’s track & field team captured their third consecutive AAC title on Saturday, April 21st on the campus of Lees McRae College.
Judy Johnson led the way with wins in the 100, 200, long jump, triple jump and 4 x 400 relay.
Joining Johnson on the championship podium were: Molly Burrows with wins in 100 hurdles, 400 hurdles and 4 x 400 relay; Tessa Garrett in the high jump and javelin; Mary Armstrong in pole vault and 4 x 100 relay; Jarethea Adams in the 4 x 100 relay; Amanda Davis in the 400, 4 x 100 and 4 x 400; Brittany Simmons in the 4 x 100 and 4 x 400 relays.
The Lady Tornado combined for 12 first place finishes in conference events. With the Appalachian Athletic Conference adding track & field to its line-up just three years ago, the Lady Tornado have been the only team to ever win the title.
