The top two seeds will meet up to decide the champion in the Appalachian Athletic Conference Baseball Tournament on Saturday at 11 a.m.
Top-seeded Tennessee Wesleyan defeated No. 2 Montreat 5-4 in the winners' bracket final to earn a spot in the title game, while Montreat held on to defeat Union 6-5 in the losers' bracket final to earn a shot at the championship. In the other game of the day, Union won a 14-11 slugfest over UVa-Wise.
The championship game had been orginally scheduled to start at 12 pm, but it has been moved up to 11 am due to the forecast of rain on Saturday.
Tennessee Wesleyan jumped out to an early lead, but had to rally in the bottom of the eighth to pull out the win.
Trailing 4-1 in the top of the eighth, Montreat rallied for three runs to pull even. However, Travis Battle delivered a two-out, run-scoring single to put Tennessee Wesleyan on top 5-4.
Zac Bowman and Jered Stanley each hit home runs for Tennessee Wesleyan in the win.
Montreat held off a pesky Union squad and advanced to the conference title game with the 6-5 decision.
Up 3-2 in the eighth, Montreat got RBI singles from Mitch Williams, Chris Limpach and Austin Hall to make it 6-2.
However, Union scored two in the bottom of the inning on a Brett McAlpin two-run single. In the ninth, Kenny Kysar scored on a Justin Hart groundout, but it would not be enough as Montreat held on for th 6-5 win.
Limpach and Brian Williams hit home runs for Montreat.
