TWC owns top seed for NAIA Region XII Tournament

Tennessee Wesleyan is the No. 1 seed for the NAIA Region XII Tournament, which will begin on Wednesday at Hunter Wright Stadium in Kingsport, Tenn.

Tennessee Wesleyan (42-12 overall) is fresh off winning both the Appalachian Athletic Conference regular-season and tournament championships. Spalding (31-22-1) won both the Kentucky Intercollegiate regular-season and tournament championships and is the No. 2 seed. Montreat (29-20) is the third seed, Union (42-14) the fourth, UVa-Wise (30-15-1) the fifth and Brescia (24-31) the sixth.

The four-day event will get underway with Tennessee Wesleyan playing Brescia at 11 a.m. Wednesday, which will be followed by Spalding facing UVa-Wise at 3 p.m. and the Union-Montreat game at 7 p.m. On Thursday, the Tennessee Wesleyan-Brescia winner will face the Montreat-Union loser at 11 a.m., the Spalding-UVa-Wise winner and Montreat-Union winner will play at 3 p.m., while the Tennessee Wesleyan-Brescia loser and Spalding-UVa-Wise loser will square off in an elimination game at 7 p.m.

The championship game is set for Saturday at 1 p.m.
