Union defeated Tennessee Wesleyan 11-6 in the NAIA Region XII Baseball Tournament championship game Saturday to capture its first-ever region title.
Tennessee Wesleyan pushed Union to the limit as it posted a 13-6 win in the first game; however, Union reeled off nine runs in the top of the first inning of the second game and cruised to the five-run victory and the region championship.
Union moves on to face Cumberland (Tenn.) University - winners of NAIA Region XI, in the Super Regional next week. The best-of-three series will be played at Union's Carey Stadium in Barbourville.
