Virginia Intermont College named Josh Swain the college's Head Baseball Coach.
Swain is a Virginia Intermont alumnus, graduating in 2004 with a degree in Sports Management. He became assistant baseball coach in 2005. As head coach, he replaces Jimmy Nelson who left the college to pursue a career in local law enforcement.
Swain transferred to VI in 2001 from Eastern New Mexico University. He finished his baseball career at VI in 2003 and began coaching the Cobras as a student assistant in the fall of 2003. He has also been the clubhouse manager for the Bristol White Sox for the last two years.
"I am confident Coach Swain will lead our baseball program in a very positive direction," said Virginia Intermont Athletic Director Chris Holt. "He has the knowledge of the game, the desire to teach, and the ability to communicate the importance of what it means to ba a student-athlete here at VI."
Swain is a native of Lubbock, Texas.
"I am very excited and look forward to the new challenge," Swain said. "I feel that I will continue to improve the quality of baseball at the college and I will help mentor good citizens for the community."
