Virginia Intermont Athletic Director, Chris Holt, announced today that Scott Hoagland has been named men’s basketball head coach.
“It is a tremendous honor to join the Virginia Intermont athletic department,” Coach Hoagland said. “I am looking forward to the challenge of leading the young men in the program and continuing the proud tradition of Cobra Basketball.”
Coach Hoagland comes to VI from basketball powerhouse, Oak Hill Academy, where he served as the head coach of the red team. During his career at Oak Hill he compiled a 47-11 win/loss record and was also the Director of College Counseling.
“Coach Hoagland’s decision to join our athletic staff has created immediate excitement from current players as well as potential recruits.” Holt said. “I strongly believe we have hired a coach of integrity who will lead our young men toward the same level of success he attained at Oak Hill Academy.”
In addition to his experience at Oak Hill Academy, Hoagland coached at Fort Chiswell High School and was a student assistant at the University of Virginia College at Wise.
He is a graduate of Radford University and is currently working toward his Master’s degree through Old Dominion University.
Scott, his wife, Susan, and son, Aiden, currently live in Galax, Va., but plan to relocate to Bristol.
