Barnes hits milestone

Milligan College, Tenn. --- Milligan College junior Jeff Barnes recently hit the 1,000 points milestone against non-conference foe Southeastern Bible College.

Nearing the end of the first half Barnes was close to the mark.  A pass from junior point-guard Tyler Estepp (Limestone, Tenn.) gave Barnes the opportunity to finish the lay-up and surpass the milestone.  Barnes finished the game with 26 points, which was a season high for Barnes, and was just three points shy of his career high.

“I was relieved after it went in,” said Barnes. “It was a great feeling, but I was happier with the win. I am happy with the team's progress thus far. We have put in a lot of hard work and it is paying off.  We want to keep striving for our goal of a conference championship.”

Barnes, a 6-foot-7 center from Franklin, Tenn., currently ranks fifth in field goal percentages at .624 in the NAIA Division II. This year he has averaged 17.4 points per game and 7.2 rebounds.

Barnes is the son of Vince and Vicki Barnes and is an applied finance and accounting major at Milligan.
