BRISTOL, Va. – Susanna Todd added her name to the Union College record book Wednesday as the Lady Bulldogs picked up an 80-68 Appalachian Athletic Conference win at Virginia Intermont College.
Todd, a junior from Eubank, Ky., knocked down five 3-pointers in the game to give her 189 in her career. She passed Danielle Gallert’s (1995-2000) and her mark of 186.
Brooke Smith (Pineville, Ky.) collected her seventh double-double this season with a pair of game highs, 29 points and 16 rebounds. This marks the second time this season she has grabbed 16 rebounds. Ashley Lunsford (Orlando, Ky.) chipped in 10 points as well in the win.
Virginia Intermont was led by Michelle Shockley with 18 points and nine rebounds. Haley Odle added 15 points while Kendra Newman poured in 10 more.
With the win, Union improved to 12-3 in conference play and 19-7 overall. The Lady Bulldogs are currently in a three-way tie for second place with King (Tenn.) College and Milligan (Tenn.) College all are one game behind Covenant (Ga.) College. Virginia Intermont dropped to 4-11 in the AAC and 7-19 overall.
The Lady Bulldogs made 55.6 percent (10-for-18) of their shots behind the 3-point line and in comparison, Virginia Intermont could only knock down 21.7 percent (5-for-23) of their attempts.
Union will host Milligan Saturday in the final home contest of the season, set to begin at 4 p.m. The Lady Bulldogs will look to even the season series with the Lady Buffs. Milligan used a last-second basket to capture an 81-80 win in the first game on Jan. 15.

Union won the other meeting against Virginia Intermont this season, 81-65 on Jan. 12.
The win snaps a 3 game road losing streak for the Lady Bulldogs.
When opponents score less than 70 points, Union is 11-1 this season.
