St. Louis, Mo. - The King College Track and Field teams proved once again to be a strong force with their performance at the NAIA Outdoor National Track & Field competition.
Along the way to an 8th place overall finish in the field of 57 on the men's side, four men and one woman
were chosen as All-Americans.
Tyrell Cuffy led the way with two individual championships as he defended his 200 meter title and added the 100 meter. Kemar Hyman made it a one and two sweep for King as the freshman from the Grand Cayman Islands made his NAIA Outdoor Nationals debut. Tyrell and Kemar joined Maxwell Hyman and Anthony Todt in the 4x100 relay that surprised everyone by finishing 3rd overall. The team was seeded only 6th going into the finals but put together a championship level performance for their third place surprise.
Brittany Simmons was the lone All-American for the King women as she placed sixth in the 400 meter finals. Running in lane seven Brittany had to fight hard down the straight to insure her All-American status. This caps a fine season for the sophomore from Farragut High School in Knoxville, Tenn., which included school records in both the 400 (55.96) and 800 (2:16.94).
