KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The ninth installment of the NAIA Men's Soccer national weekly honors have been announced today (Nov. 4).  Jonathan Shaw of Union (Ky.) was announced as National Defensive Player of the Week while Mustafa Celik of Holy Names (Calif.) was named National Offensive Player of the Week, for the week of Oct. 27- Nov. 2.

Shaw, a 6-7 sophomore goalkeeper from Merseyside, England, posted back-to-back overtime shutouts over the past week.  Both shutouts came against Appalachian Athletic Conference foe Montreat (N.C.).  Shaw recorded five saves in a 0-0 tie in the final game of the regular season.  Union and Montreat met again later in the week, this time in the first round of the AAC Tournament.  Shaw posted a 10-save shutout performance in another 0-0 tie overtime tie, a game that Montreat eventually won in a shootout.  The shutouts give Shaw five on the season, and this was the second time he posted back-to-back shutouts.

Celik, a 5-10 forward from Germany, had an unbelievable week for the Hawks.  Against Menlo (Calif.), the junior had three goals in a 5-1 Holy Names win.  He followed that up with a seven-goal, three-assist performance against California State-Maritime.  For the week, Celik had 10 goals, three assists and 23 total points.
