Sayles' overall record at Bryan is now 100-79. He has been in the conference semi-finals for three straight years, and finished at second place last year. In '06 the Lions had the best season they have had in a long time, finishing as Regular Season Runners-Up. Coach Sayles also received the honor of 2006 AAC Coach of the Year. The '07 season was even better with a record of 24-17, finishing second in the AAC Tournament, and making it to the NCCAA National Championships. This year the Lady Lions finished with an incredible record of 27-9. This year's record is the best in the past 20 years for the Bryan College volleyball program.
Assistant Coach Johnny Miller had this to say about the milestone: "Coach Sayles reaching his 100th collegiate win is a remarkable milestone that exemplifies the hard work and commitment he has placed in the volleyball program at Bryan College. To accomplish the feat in 5 short years, with the majority of those wins coming in the last 3, speaks volumes of his knowledge of the game. He really knows how to bring about that championship attitude in the recruits he brings in, as well as in the games themselves. Evident from every practice, team meeting, and game is his constant emphasis on striving for excellence not only on the volleyball court, but also in life. Coach Sayles works harder on himself in order to be an example for others to follow. I consider myself privileged to serve and learn under him this past season."
