The Covenant Lady Scots defeated Virginia Intermont 3-2 with just over
eight minutes gone in the first sudden death overtime period.
Junior midfielder Jennifer Johnson took a Covenant corner kick and
drove a ball into the box, where Amy Smrcina headed in the game-winner
from six yards out. The goal gave Covenant the AAC Tournament
championship to go along with their second consecutive AAC regular
season championship. Covenant has won three of the last four AAC
regular season championships, and will now host next week’s NAIA
Regional tournament.
