Johnson City, Tenn. (March 7, 2009) --- Two members of the Milligan College men's and women's track teams competed in the finals of the NAIA Indoor National Track and Field meet held at East Tennessee State (Johnson City, Tenn.) Saturday, March 7.Saturday wrapped up the ninth straight year that the Johnson City Convention and Visitor's Bureau in partnership with Milligan College has hosted this event.

Freshman Austin Ellis (Charlottesville, Va.) competed in the finals of the men's 5000-meter run with a time of 15:18.48. He finished eighth place overall.

Senior Nicole Moore (Boise, Id.) competed in the finals of the women's one mile run with a personal best time of 5:06.62. She finished ninth place overall.

Sophomore Chelsea Leavell (Springfield, Tenn.) competed in the preliminaries of the women's shot put with a personal best distance of 12.63m for fourteenth place overall.

"I think, first of all, for us as the host school, it was another incredible championship," said Head Coach Chris Layne. "From a Milligan standpoint, Chelsea threw her personal best this morning. Nicole ran ninth in the mile with a personal best coming in unseeded, and Austin finished eighth place as a freshman. I was extremely pleased how we competed. The last day is never easy because everyone is getting tired and it's a war of who wants it the most, but I think we competed very well today."
