The Bryan College Baseball Team
has a new Pitching Coach. Brian Derlak has joined the coaching
staff and will begin working with the players in August. Brian's
collegiate playing career included two years at Roane State Community
College and two years at Francis-Marion University. He is currently
a teacher at Rhea County High School. He and his wife Lori reside
in Dayton, TN. They have a one year old son named David.
"Coach Derlak is going to
help this team tremendously. He brings a knowledge and an understanding
of pitching that when matched with his ability to teach will benefit
our pitchers greatly." says Coach Joel Johnson. "Brian
will have the responsibility of working with the pitchers and
catchers on a daily basis. He will develop their mechanics, conditioning,
velocity, control and conditioning. Adding Brian to the coaching
staff will change our team."
When asked what he is looking
forward too when working the Lions pitching staff Derlak responded
"The opportunity to teach baseball in an atmosphere where
the coaches also get to impact lives is great." He also said
that one of his common statements that, "Little things make
a big difference." will also apply to his new pitching staff.
